You can get there by train or by car. The easiest way is by the Spanish Railways (RENFE (http://www.renfe.es/cercanias/barcelona/index_horarios.html)). It is 35 minutes from Barcelona. It costs 2,30 ?. You have to get it from Passeig de Gràcia Station or Sants Station, not Plaça Catalunya Station. You have trains at least every 30 minutes. You can also use your car. There are 2 options from Barcelona: a road full of curves (les Costes del Garraf) or the highway, faster (you get there in 30 minutes) but a bit expensive (5 ? approx).
There are 11 beaches of varying sizes. The most famous one is perhaps Platja de St Sebastian, located just northeast of the Cau Ferrat.
