2003 Daewoo Kalos hatchbackThe Chevrolet Aveo is a Chevrolet subcompact car built by Korean GM Daewoo, a subsidiary of General Motors. It is a badge engineered US version of Daewoo Kalos (model T200).
2005 Chevrolet Aveo sedan (model T200)The Kalos is based on the Flex concept by Giorgetto Giugiaro, a further development of Daewoo Lanos (model T100). The car started production in 2002; it originally came in three versions, a 4-door sedan and a 5-door hatchback. A 3-door hatchback is sold in Europe from 2005.
The Chevrolet Aveo began sales in 2003, replacing the hole in the Chevrolet US lineup left by the Chevrolet Metro; it features different headlights and front fascia. The Aveo styling and name is also used for international versions of Kalos. In Canada, the hatchbacks are also sold as the Suzuki Swift+ and the Pontiac Wave. In China, Shanghai GM adopted a version of Aveo sedan under Chevrolet Sail name to replace the Buick Sail.
The Kalos T200 was selling as the Daewoo Kalos in Western Europe up until recently; from 2005, it is rebadged as Chevrolet Kalos, but Eastern Europe, Arabia and South Africa retain Aveo name. In Ukraine, a version of Aveo is assembled from CKD kits at ZAZ.
For the Europe, the car comes equipped with 1.2 L SOHC S-TEC engine, and 1.4 L SOHC and 1.4 L DOHC E-TEC II engines; Asian/Ukrainian markets receive 1.5 L E-TEC II and US/Canada versions come with 1.6 L E-TEC II.
In late 2005, Holden will rebadge the Kalos as the new Holden Barina in Australia and New Zealand. Previously, the Holden Barina was a rebadged Opel Corsa.
2007 Chevrolet Aveo sedan (model T250)By 2006, the new model T250 designed in cooperation with PATAC will appear. The sedan version was shown on Shanghai Auto Show; the car will first hit Korean market as the Daewoo Gentra (from 'gentle'). 3-door and 5-door hatchback versions will arrive by Fall.
Future designs will be integrated with GM Gamma platform.
