Bachelor of Civil Law or B.C.L. is the name of the degree given in civil law jurisdictions to graduates of a faculty of law in a university. It is considered to be a bachelor's degree and it is often not necessary for the candidate to have another degree before obtaining the B.C.L. In civil law jurisdictions, it generally qualifies the holder to continue his legal education to enter the profession of civil law notary, lawyer or to receive training to become a judge. In civil law countries, universities generally omit the reference "civil" and name the degree Bachelor of Law, Licenciate in Law, or something similar.

In the University of Oxford, the B.C.L. is a taught postgraduate degree in English law - equivalent to the Master of Laws (LL.M.) offered by other British universities. At Oxford, the undergraduate law degree is a B.A. degree in Jurisprudence (equivalent to the Bachelor of Laws - LL.B. - offered by other British universities). The Faculty of Civil Law in Oxford is so named to distinguish it from the faculty of canon law which was suspended by King Henry VIII in 1535.

At Canada's McGill University, the bachelor's degree in Quebec civil law is called the Bachelor of Civil Law (B.C.L.), to distinguish it from the bachelor's degree in common law offered by that same university: Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.). McGill students can earn both degress concurrently in four years. The University of Ottawa, although located in Ontario, offers a baccalaureate degree in Quebec civil law, which is called the LL.L. (Licentiate of Laws), to distinguish it from the bachelor's degree in common law (LL.B.) offered by that same university. The remaining Quebec universities that offer the baccalaureate degree in Quebec civil law (Université de Montréal, Université du Québec à Montréal, Université Laval and Université de Sherbrooke) call it an LL.B. (baccalauréat en droit).

Louisiana State University in the U.S. bestows on the graduates of its baccalaureate law program a combined J.D. (Juris Doctor) / B.C.L. (Bachelor of Civil Law) in view of the Louisiana civil law components in the program and the additional (i.e., 7th) semester of study.

The B.C.L. degree is also the standard law degree in the Republic of Ireland. It is awarded by the constituent universities of the National University of Ireland.
